Our Governors
Role of Governors at our school.
The government expects governing bodies to have a strong focus on three core strategic functions:
1. Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction.
2. Holding the Headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its children and the performance management of staff.
3. Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent.
(Governance handbook - Department of Education 2020)
The governing body focuses its time and energy on school improvement. Governors work collectively to support and strengthen the leadership of the Headteacher and challenge where necessary. Governors play a strategic role; the Headteacher is responsible for the routine running of the school.
The Governing Body is made up of representatives from staff, parents and the community.
Our Parent and Staff Governors are elected. The Headteacher has a standing post; Co-opted Governors are nominated and approved by the Governing Body for a term which lasts 4 years at a time.
If you are interested in becoming a Parent Governor please let us know and we will inform you when vacancies arise.
Contacting Governors.
Governors can be contacted via the school office.
Place any communication in an envelope addressing it to the Chair of Governors and we will ensure it is passed unopened to the Chair.
Committees.

Register of Interests.
All members of the Governing Body - and staff, where appropriate - are required to complete an annual declaration of their financial and pecuniary interests and any relationships between Governors and members of the school staff. This declaration must also include business interests of relatives, such as parents, spouses, co-habitees or business partners, where influence could be exerted by that person over a Governor or member of staff or where the Governor or staff member could benefit directly or indirectly from a transaction with the school.
All Governors have signed a Register of Interests to indicate whether they have a potential conflict of interest or not.
